It&#8217;s probably important to note in case someone finds this post when trying to decide if to update, that the Aspire 5532 is not listed as one of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acer.co.uk\/ac\/en\/GB\/content\/windows-upgrade-offer\" target=\"_blank\">Acer&#8217;s Windows 8 update qualified device<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Windows &#8220;helpfully&#8221; installs its own Microsoft drivers to get components up and running and they do work to some extent but not enough to make the laptop fully usable.<\/p>\n<p>The big issues for me was no OpenGL support with the graphics driver, and a bug with the WiFi controller which meant you couldn&#8217;t reconnect to a network after hibernation. Others like no webcam, card reader, etc were minor but useful to have.<\/p>\n<p>I thought since there isn&#8217;t a list anywhere, but lots of posts with people asking for help, I would post my list to help anyone else.<br \/>\nI found on Acer&#8217;s site that there are some components from different manufacturers so you may need to use <a href=\"http:\/\/global-download.acer.com\/FilesDownload\/HWID\/HWVendorDetection.exe\" target=\"_blank\">Acer&#8217;s Hardware Vendor Detection tool<\/a> to confirm they are the same as mine.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.amd.com\/us\/gpudownload\/windows\/legacy\/Pages\/legacy-radeonaiw-vista64.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Graphics<\/a> &#8211; ATI Radeon HD3200 *<\/li>\n<li>WiFi &#8211; Qualcomm Atheros AR5B93<\/li>\n<li>Ethernet- Qualcomm Atheros AR8132<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.realtek.com\/downloads\/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&amp;PNid=24&amp;PFid=24&amp;Level=4&amp;Conn=3&amp;DownTypeID=3&amp;GetDown=false\" target=\"_blank\">Sound<\/a> &#8211; Realtek High Definition Audio<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.synaptics.com\/resources\/drivers\" target=\"_blank\">TouchPad<\/a> &#8211; Synaptics PS\/2<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/global-download.acer.com\/GDFiles\/Driver\/Camera\/Camera_Suyin_5.0.9.1_W7x64W7x86_A.zip?acerid=633921341720367482&amp;Step1=NOTEBOOK&amp;Step2=ASPIRE&amp;Step3=ASPIRE%205532&amp;OS=ALL&amp;LC=en&amp;BC=ACER&amp;SC=EMEA_27\" target=\"_blank\">Webcam <\/a>(Windows 7 Driver)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.realtek.com\/downloads\/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&amp;PNid=15&amp;PFid=25&amp;Level=4&amp;Conn=3&amp;DownTypeID=3&amp;GetDown=false\" target=\"_blank\">Card Reader<\/a> &#8211; Realtek RST5159<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: Windows decides its drivers are the best ones to use so doesn&#8217;t allow you to install all of these drivers automatically, you may need to select manual install (have disk) to get Windows to use them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I recently updated my, admittedly a few years old now, laptop to Windows 8 and have had a nightmare hunting down drivers for things.
